LET’S LISTEN TO THE VOICES OF CHILDREN STARTING APRIL 13

HONG KONG/13 April 2022 – Do you know the thinking and aspirations of our children? ‘for every child, we listen’ children’s radio programme is a special channel for our next generation to speak for themselves what’s on their minds.

Co-produced by Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK), the newly introduced ‘for every child, we listen’ children’s radio programme (in Cantonese only) is aired every Wednesday 11 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in RTHK Radio 2 popular show Crazy & Happy (瘋Show快活人) starting 13 April 2022. The programme showcases 22 novice junior DJs aged between 8 and 16 performing radio drama, sharing views on local children specific matters and topics relating to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and more.

Selection and training of 22 junior DJs have begun last year end. UNICEF HK hopes this programme will bring them unique experience, extra-curricular know-how, self-confidence, communication skills and understanding of children’s rights. Furthermore, it gives parents and teachers a window to our children’s hearts and better understand their developmental needs from the eyes of children.

One-minute segment ‘Shall We Talk’ (一分鐘心聲) in ‘for every child, we listen’  radio programme welcomes children aged 16 or below to share their views on designated topics and send email to  [email protected]. Selected child contributors will have the chance recording the monologue for on-air broadcasting, which will be responded by heartfelt sharing from relevant stakeholders in the community.

In addition to the new ‘for every child, we listen’  radio programme, UNICEF HK launched ‘for every child, care & relief’ campaign to provide anti-epidemic support for families in need, raise awareness for mental health of children and adolescents during COVID-19 outbreak and encourage students make meaningful use of their time and keep learning.
