The competition will be held at the Central Lawn of the Nursery Park at the West Kowloon Cultural District. It provides a great opportunity for children and their families to do something fun and meaningful together.

The theme of UNICEF HK’s Little Artists Big Dreams Drawing Competition 2018 is ‘for every child, a better word’. We invite children aged 12 or below to unleash their talent and raise funds for UNICEF’s Cash Transfers for Deprived Children Project in China through the competition.

Hong Kong, 12 Feuary 2018 – The Little Artists Big Dreams Drawing Competition (the Competition) will return to the Central Lawn of the Nursery Park at the West Kowloon Cultural District on 18 March 2018. Organized by the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK), the Competition, once again fully supported by Principal Sponsor, Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group Limited, aims to raise funds for UNICEF’s Cash Transfers for Deprived Children (CCT) Project in China.

This year, the theme of the Competition is ‘for every child, a better world’. We invite children aged 12 or below to draw a world of a better future and express well wishes to children living under deprivation and sufferings. Their participation can also demonstrate the spirit of ‘kids helping kids’, as the funds raised will benefit mothers and children living in remote and deprived areas of China and give those children a healthy start in life.

Of note this year is our collaboration with Mr John Chan, the author of the renowned cartoon Din Dong, whose illustration will form part of the Comic Strip Drawing Challenge on the day. Din Dong, the character with full of positive energy and dreams, will inspire the young participants to come up with colorful and creative drawings.

For eleven years in a row, the Little Artists Big Dreams Competition has provided  an outdoor fun day for families to enjoy on a weekend and, at the same time, raised funds for the CCT Project, which targets 15 poor counties in Yunnan, Gansu and Sichuan. Pregnant women from these counties are eligible for a cash subsidy as an incentive to receive medical care, such as antenatal and postnatal check-up, birth delivery in hospital and immunization for their newborns. From 2011 to 2017, over 20,000 pregnant women and children have benefited from the project.

In addition to the Comic Strip Drawing Challenge, the Little Artist Big Dreams Drawing Competition will provide a range of family-friendly activities at the carnival booths, including face painting, parental workshop and charity sale.
