Empowering Women’s Education and Shaping a Sustainable Future: UNICEF HK Chairman Judy Chen Speaks at HKUST Hong Kong Heroines College Opening Ceremony

02/11/2026

Hong Kong, November 2, 2026 — Judy Chen, Chairman of the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF, was invited to speak at the opening ceremony of the Hong Kong Heroines College at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), where she delivered a keynote address on the importance of female education and gender equality in driving social progress and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In her address, Ms. Chen underscored UNICEF’s firm belief that gender equality is a fundamental human right and a prerequisite for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable world. She noted that empowering girls creates a ripple effect—benefiting children, transforming families, and advancing society. Emphasising that true female leadership means 'that together we are better,' she called on women leaders to lift up the next generation while striving for excellence, noting that investing in girls remains one of the most effective paths to ending poverty and building peace.

Reflecting UNICEF’s core vision, Ms. Chen expressed her hope that the students could bring their wisdom and empathy to meet the challenges of our time and build a better future for children and young people.
