UNICEF HK “Team for Children” Henry Lau Inspires Youth to Harness Technology for Creative Innovation

13/10/2025

Hong Kong, 13 October, 2025 — Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming nearly every aspect of our lives, presenting both immense opportunities and risks. UNICEF emphasizes the need to prioritize children in AI development, ensuring their unique needs and rights are safeguarded to support their healthy growth.

In line with this mission, Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) is empowering young people to actively engage in the AI revolution through its recent support of "CREATIVITAS: The Quest for AI Innovation, Creativity, and Music", an event organized jointly by the HKU Academy for the Talented (HKU AcT), MIT Music Theater Arts, and CETIC Foundation, encouraging young innovators to explore AI’s creative potential.

The event showcased the dynamic fusion of AI and music, gathering global experts and industry pioneers to discuss emerging trends and future directions in this rapidly evolving field. UNICEF HK “Team for Children”, internationally renowned artist and musician, Henry Lau, gave a video message from his studio which demonstrated how technology transforms music creation. Using an electric violin, Henry illustrated technology's vital role in the creative process while emphasizing that technological literacy is as crucial as musical skills. He encouraged youth to embrace innovation, affirming the synergy between music and technology can drive meaningful progress.

A delegation of UNICEF Young Envoys (YEs) also attended the event as part of their summer journey in exploring the diversified application of AI and were deeply inspired.  YEs reflected that AI is not solely used in data analysis and coding, but could also be a powerhouse of creativity. The fusion of coding music with Chinese traditional music was impressive and demonstrated the infinite diversity of music creation.
