HONG KONG, 9 November 2017 – With less than a month to go, the city’s leading KOLs are calling on the public to generously support the runners who will take part in the upcoming UNICEF Charity Run. No matter which race they take part in, all the runners are united in raising funds to support UNICEF’s global campaign against AIDS, which focuses on protecting babies from being infected with HIV at birth and providing treatment, counselling and support for mothers and children affected by HIV and AIDS.

Aside from their public appeal, these KOLs will join tens of thousands of runners on 26 November 2017 to run for every child. From the sporting community, UNICEF HK ambassador and professional racing cyclist Ms Sarah Lee will be taking part in the UNICEF Charity Run for the first time, and she rarely competes in non-cycling events. “I really look forward to running in the 3km Leadership Challenge race,” said Ms Lee. “UNICEF has done a lot of good work for children around the world, and I am determined to raise as much money as I can to support UNICEF’s work, so that children in need would have the chance to thrive.”

Another UNICEF HK ambassador, Ms Guo Jing-jing, will once again participate in the UNICEF Charity Run. This year, for the first time ever, Ms Guo will be running together with her husband and son. “I am really excited about the 3km Family Run, as this gives me a great opportunity to do something fun and meaningful with my family,” remarked Ms Guo. “I also want to commend UNICEF’s efforts to help protect babies from being infected with HIV, and in particular their work in China to help prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission. Please support the runners and join me in working towards an AIDS-free world.”

In addition to Ms Lee and Ms Guo, Hong Kong’s half marathon record holder, Mr Gi Ka-man, will take up the challenge in the 10km race, and UNICEF HK ambassador Mr Wong Kam-po will participate in the 3km Family Run with his wife and son.

The corporate community will see veteran marathon runner and public relations guru Mr Walter Cheung demonstrating his athletic prowess in half marathon. His son and daughter, meanwhile, will join the Star Wars™ 5km Run. In addition, Mr Lau Ming-wai, Chairman of the Commission on Youth will take part in the 3km Leadership Challenge Race.

“We rely on support from the public to further our mission so that we can achieve lasting transformation for children,” said Ms Judy Chen, Chairman of UNICEF HK. “I am pleased that we have a stellar lineup of leading KOLs joining the run.”

Apart from the  tremendous support from different parties in the society , a contingent of KOLs from the entertainment and popular culture community will join the Star Wars™ 5km Run. These include artist Mr Sham Ka-ki, Hong Kong champion bodybuilder Ms Lisa Cheng, astrologer Ms Cherry Leung, model Ms Charlotte Cheung and YouTuber Ms Maggie Yau.

These popular influencers will be joined by well-known disc jockeys from Commercial Radio Hong Kong and Radio Television Hong Kong. They are: DJ Donald, aka Mr Donald Tong; DJ Maria, aka Ms Maria Tang; DJ Ning, aka Mr Sit Chun-ning; DJ Jacky, aka Mr Jacky Lui; DJ Tarzan, aka Mr Patrick Chen; DJ Tsz-lung, aka Mr William Wan; DJ Tsz-wei, aka Mr Ling Tsz-wei; and DJ Ah O, aka Mr Mung Wai-leong.
