Join the ‘Believe in Zero’ Cycling Safety Event

Road traffic injuries account for 1.3 million deaths every year and affect another 20-50 million victims – the leading cause of death worldwide among people aged 15-29. Children and teenagers cycling on the road with other large vehicles can be particularly risky as they are small and often without protective gears.
To support the ‘Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011 - 2020’ proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly, the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) is now welcoming all Primary 4 to Form 7 students in Hong Kong to join the ‘Believe in Zero’ Cycling Safety Event. The event aims to promote a culture of safe cycling, to protect children and young people from cycling accidents and to enhance public awareness about children’s rights to survival and protection.
On the event day, UNICEF HK Ambassador and World Cycling Champion Ah Po, Wong Kam-po will share with participants some very useful safety techniques, while professional trainers will give lessons in proper cycling skills like aking, riding up or down a slope and assisting participants to complete different checkpoints designed for learning cycling and road safety.
