RUN FOR EVERY CHILD THIS NOVEMBER UNICEF CHARITY RUN 2018 IS NOW OPEN FOR ENROLMENT

HONG KONG, 14 AUGUST 2018 – The Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF HK) announced that the enrolment for the UNICEF Charity Run 2018 (UNICEF Charity Run) commences at noon today.
Entering its 13th year, the UNICEF Charity Run is calling for 13,500 runners to join forces together and be a companion and champion for every child on Sunday, 25 November 2018, at the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Sunny Bay.
The UNICEF Charity Run is the largest road-running charity event in Hong Kong, and it offers Half Marathon, 10km Run, 5km Run and 3km Run (Youth and Family) to individual runners and families. The Half Marathon and 10km (Challenge) races are sanctioned by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and Hong Kong Amateur Athletic Association (HKAAA).
Altogether the races are expected to raise at least HK$11 million to support UNICEF's global campaign against AIDS, which focuses on protecting babies from being infected with HIV at birth, and providing treatment, counselling and support for mothers and children affected by HIV and AIDS. Since its launch in 2006, the UNICEF Charity Run has engaged over 120,000 runners and raised over HK$120 million.
Jane Lau, Chief Executive of UNICEF HK, said, “In the past decade, the world has made remarkable progress in the fight against HIV/AIDS. Since 2000, thanks to the global effort of prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV services, led by UNICEF and its partners, some two million new infections in children under five have been averted.
“A huge leap has been made for children to grow up free of HIV but we cannot stop until it is a reality for every child, everywhere. Therefore, I call on all Hongkongers to help every child to have a healthy start in their life by supporting UNICEF’s work, and in particular, its work for the most marginalized and vulnerable children.”
Over the years, the generosity of our supporters and sponsors has made a positive impact on UNICEF’s global efforts against HIV/AIDS. This year, the UNICEF Charity Run is made possible by Principal Sponsor China Cinda (HK) Holdings Company Limited.

Express (Hong Kong) Limited, Gold Sponsors Asia Miles Limited and New World Development Company Limited, and a number of supporting partners. Official Sportswear adidas Hong Kong Limited will provide event souvenir T-shirts and training workshops for runners.
The UNICEF Charity Run is also an inclusive event where disabled runners can participate in the Half Marathon wheelchair race. In addition, there will be competitions by invitation only – the 3km Leadership Challenge and the Half Marathon Corporate Relay.
