UNICEF asks public to raise their voices and imagine a better world for children

HONG KONG, 20 November 2014 - During a musical event at the United Nations General Assembly on 20 November 2014 morning (New York Time), UNICEF unveiled the #IMAGINE project as part of celeations for the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC@25). UNICEF HK Ambassador, world renowned cellist Trey Lee also joined the musical event with the presence of Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo, etc to unveil the #IMAGINE project as part of the celeation for CRC@25. The #IMAGINE project ings together artist Yoko Ono, renowned music producer, DJ David Guetta and UNICEF Ambassadors including Yuna Kim, Katy Perry, Angélique Kidjo, Daniela Mercury, Priyanka Chopra, and a host of other high profile supporters with the aim of creating a unique moment in music history that will highlight the tremendous challenges children face the world over by the classic song Imagine.

From 20 November to 31 December, public can visit imagine.unicef.org to record their own version of Imagine, John Lennon’s iconic anthem of hope and peace, alongside their favourite stars, in what UNICEF hopes will be the largest ever global sing-along. #IMAGINE participants can also record personal messages describing what they imagine a better world for children would be like, and donate to UNICEF to support the organization's programmes providing education, nutrition, healthcare and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, protection and emergency relief for children in more than 150 countries and territories worldwide.

With the kind permission of Yoko Ono, the wife of John Lennon, UNICEF initiates the #IMAGINE Project and to raise awareness on the children’s rights through the iconic song Imagine.	UNICEF HK Ambassador Trey Lee, performed a solo part of IMAGINE to kick-off the finale performance.

Grammy Award winner Angelique Kidjo, together with other singers and children joined Trey Lee and sing IMAGINE at the end of the CRC@25 celeation musical event - Imagine a world where the rights of every child can be realized and every voice of children can be heard!	UNICEF HK Ambassador Trey Lee performed on the same stage with UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake and celeities including UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador and singer Angélique Kidjo, UNICEF Brazil Ambassador and singer Daniela Mercury, 15 years old Russian singer Kristian Kostov, Nigerian singer Don Jazzy and Swedish singer Laleh etc.
