UNICEF HK reminds donors to avoid unauthorized charity sales

2018-01-25

HONG KONG, 25 January 2018 – It has come to our notice that an online call for sales of products of some global ands has been going on, claiming that the proceeds would be donated to UNICEF. We would like to clarify that the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF (or UNICEF Hong Kong) has NOT initiated such activity.

It is our practice that when we organize any fundraising activities or become a beneficiary of a partnership programme, we would make them known to the public through public announcements via media, press releases and our own website (www.unicef.org.hk).

We strongly advise members of the public to check our announcements or contact us at 2833 6139 if they are in doubt of any suspicious or fraudulent cases. Please also avoid making any monetary payment through unknown websites.

The Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF is a registered charity in Hong Kong. We work diligently to support UNICEF’s global humanitarian and development missions for children and serve as a leading voice on child rights in Hong Kong. The support of our donors and partners is of paramount importance to make our global missions possible and their trust in UNICEF should not be jeopardized by any activities that are not authorized by UNICEF.
