The United Nations recommends all countries institute a Universal Children's Day, to be observed as a day of worldwide fraternity and understanding between children, and a day of activity devoted to promote the welfare of the children of the world. 20 November, Universal Children's Day, marks the day on which the Assembly adopted the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989.

This year, to celeate the 22nd Anniversary for Convention on the Rights of the Child and in response to UN's call, the Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF joins the activities organised by Youth Outreach, one of the partners in the Child Rights Advocacy Project, called 'Hang Out Express – Street Rover' Roadshow in Causeway Bay on the Universal Children's Day. The activity is to raise the awareness of the situation of local and world's children, the challenges and problems they are facing, and further promote children's rights in our society. It is also an activity welcoming every child, regardless of races and background, to unify and have a fun day with us.
