Since the Gucci/UNICEF partnership begun in 2005, Gucci has committed to education through UNICEF’s ‘Schools for Africa’ Programme. Gucci has announced at an event earlier, to donate another HK$7.8 million (US$1 million) to UNICEF from the launch of Gucci Children’s Collection. Hong Kong Committee for UNICEF Ambassador, Miss Gigi Leung participated in the event, and received a Gucci teddy bear greeting card on behalf of children in need.

‘Schools for Africa’ is a joint campaign founded in 2004 by UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Hamburg Society, which aims to increase access to quality basic education for all children, with a special emphasis on helping the most disadvantaged in 11 poverty-stricken countries in Africa. Gucci is currently the largest corporate donor to UNICEF’s ‘Schools for Africa’ Programme.
